DLC Issued the second edition draft standard of plant lamp v3.0

On July 27th, 2022, DLC issued the technical requirements and sample inspection policy of the second edition draft of plant lamp v3.0.

The application according to Plant Lamp V3.0 is expected to be accepted in the first quarter of 2023,The sample inspection of plant lamps is expected to start on October 1st, 2023。At present, all V2.1 products that have been published on internet have to be submitted a new application to upgrade to v3.0 again. DLC Plant Lamp V3.0 is a major revision and proposals five key updates:

  1. 1.      Improve the threshold requirements of Plant Photosynthetic Efficiency (PPE)

Plant Photosynthetic Efficiency (PPE) requirements: from 1.9 μMol / J to 2.3 μMol / J (tolerance: - 5%).

DLC proposes to carry out a major revision every two years to promote energy-saving lighting in controlled environment agriculture by increasing PPE, so as to eliminate the lowest 15% of listed products.

  1. 2.      Product information requirements

To apply for Plant Lamp V3.0, it is necessary to report the control environment, lighting solution and other information of the product. DLC will verify and evaluate this by checking the product specification or supplementary documents。

3. Product control capability requirements

Plant Lamp V3.0 (draft2) requires AC power supply products higher than the specified PPF threshold, and all DC power supply products and replacement lamps (bulbs) must have dimming function. AC power supply products with PPF lower than 350 µ mol / s can be dimmed.

4.Add reporting requirements of LM-79 and TM-33-18

Plant Lamp V3.0 (draft2) requires LM-79 report containing complete information. From V3.0, only LM-79-19 version report is accepted. And the TM-33 file needs to match the LM79 report.

5.Sample inspection policy for plant lamps

Plant Lamp V3.0 (draft2) puts forward specific sample testing requirements for plant lamps, mainly focusing on identifying non-compliant products with higher risk than average. Products with performance close to the minimum limit, products with performance far beyond the standard, products that have provided false information, products that have been complained about, products that have refused sample inspection, and products that have failed sample inspection will increase the probability of being sampled.
