There is always a step in the process of R & D, production of LED lamps, that is, high and low temperature aging test. Why should LED lamps be subject to high and low temperature aging test?

With the development of electronic technology, the integration degree of driving power supply and LED chip in LED lamp products is higher and higher, the structure is more and more subtle, the process is more and more, and the manufacturing process is more and more complex, which will produce some defects in the manufacturing process. During production and manufacturing, there are two types of product quality problems caused by unreasonable design, raw materials or process measures:

The first category is that the performance parameters of the products are not up to standard, and the products produced do not meet the use requirements;

The second category is potential defects, which can not be found by general testing methods, but need to be gradually exposed in the process of use, such as surface pollution, tissue instability, welding cavity, poor matching of chip and shell thermal resistance and so on.

Generally, such defects can only be activated (exposed) after the components operate at rated power and normal operating temperature for about 1000 hours. Obviously, it is unrealistic to test each component for 1000 hours, so it is necessary to apply heating stress and bias, such as high-temperature power stress test, to accelerate the early exposure of such defects. That is to apply thermal, electrical, mechanical or various comprehensive external stresses to the lamps, simulate the harsh working environment, eliminate processing stress, residual solvents and other substances, make the faults appear in advance, and make the products pass the initial stage of invalid bathtub characteristics as soon as possible and enter a highly reliable stable period.

Through high-temperature aging, the defects of components and hidden dangers existing in the production process such as welding and assembly can be exposed in advance. After aging, parameter measurement can be carried out to screen and eliminate the failed or variable components, so as to eliminate the early failure of products before normal use as far as possible, so as to ensure that the delivered products can stand the test of time.

Humidity test is generally conducted to find out whether there are fragile parts and components in the product design as soon as possible, and whether there are process problems or failure modes, so as to provide reference for the improvement of product quality design. In order to ensure the performance of the product, various temperature and humidity indicators and time intervals will be used in the test. During this period, the test at each stage must pass and meet the specification requirements.

Some easily hygroscopic materials, such as printed circuit boards, plastic extrusions, packaging parts, etc., will absorb water in direct proportion to the pressure and time exposed to water vapor. When the material absorbs too much water, it will cause expansion, pollution and short circuit, and even damage the function of the product, For example, leakage current is caused between some sensitive circuits and lead to product failure. Some chemical residues may even cause serious corrosion of circuit boards or metal surface oxidation due to water vapor. In some cases, the electron migration effect between adjacent lines will also be caused by water vapor and voltage difference to form dendritic filaments, resulting in the instability of product system and other problems.

If the product has such problems, various environmental tests must be carried out to accelerate the occurrence of these failure mechanisms, so as to understand the possible problem points of the product.
